Reading a Mill Test Certificate (MTC)
Before any truckload of steel rebar unloads on a Tier-1 job site, the structural engineer must cross-reference the heat number with the manufacturer's Mill Test Certificate.
Ensure the carbon equivalent (CEV) does not exceed 0.42% for weldable grades, and verify that the ultimate tensile strength to yield strength ratio (Rm/Re) is at least 1.15 to guarantee seismic ductility during seismic tremors.
